Timothy (Tim) Steinbach


 

 
Tim is in his fifth year as athletic development director at SMSU in 2013-14.  His responsibilities include organization and implementation of athletic department fundraising, corporate sponsorships and the athletic department scholarship endowment program.  He oversees fundraising and marketing strategies for special events hosted by the SMSU Athletics Department.  Steinbach also serves as Executive Director of the Mustang Booster Club.  Steinbach has been at SMSU since 2004, serving as defensive coordinator for the Mustang football program for six seasons.  In 2007, he was named associate director of athletic development and was named the interim director of athletic development in February of 2009, before being named to his current position.  During his tenure in the athletic development office, Steinbach has helped raise more than $175,000 in sponsorships for the annual SMSU Ag Bowl and SMSU Smokefest along with other various athletic department projects.  Steinbach helps oversees Ag Bowl and Smokefest, which has earned the NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award of Excellence three times during his tenure. Steinbach earned his bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University in 1993 and a master's degree from South Dakota State University in 1998.  Tim and his wife, Christy, live in Marshall with son, Trey, and daughter, Ashleigh.
